The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining equipment to move, load and unload materials and other large objects for construction and maintenance projects. This position performs daily equipment inspections and conducts all work in accordance with load charts and safety requirements.
Responsibilities
Operate loader, excavator, aerial lifts, and other heavy equipment including various tundra travel equipment including dyna-haul, rim pull and tuckers.
Use the load chart to ensure sufficient equipment capacity.
Maintain radio communication with crew members while observing details on the ground.
Observe and follow hand signals from crew members.
Perform daily inspections, including cables wire ropes, hooks, slings, and other components.
Monitor equipment operation and identify malfunctions.
Perform routine and scheduled maintenance on equipment as required.
Prepare, update, and maintain logs, records, and equipment maintenance schedules.
Safely haul equipment and materials to specific work locations with tractor trailer.
Rig and/or provide hand signals for other operators.
Actively participate and promote all safety processes.
Other duties as assigned.
Comply with Company and customer policies and procedures.
Support AES zero-incident safety culture and assume personal accountability and responsibility for safe work practices in all projects, activities, and operations.
Requirements
A High School Diploma or GED is required.
The ability to work 80.5 hours a week on a 4x2 rotation is required.
Possess a valid US driver's license.
Have or be able to acquire the North Slope Training Cooperative (NSTC) safety training certification.
Nice-to-haves
Three (3) years' experience operating Heavy Equipment in a construction or industrial setting, in the Oil and Gas industry, Petrochemical industry, on the North Slope, or in an Arctic environment is preferred.
Three (3) years' experience operating Heavy Equipment such as but not limited to: Excavators, Loaders, Bulldozers, Forklifts, Tractors, Compactors, Backhoes, Motor Graders, Snow Blowers, Fuel-Trucks, Super-Suckers, Tractor Trailers, Skid-Steers, Aerial-Lifts, Boom-Lifts, and Dump-Trucks is required.
Valid Class A or Class B CDL.
